I agree with what you say. I hate most of it. I would love my son to pop in with the grandchildren because they were passing. I would love to genuinely connect with people over art, photography and writing. Therapy and coaching sessions as well as art lessons and women’s circles are all via zoom, for me much better in person, the only advantage is that I can be in the virtual classroom with a teacher anywhere in the world. And the joy of writing and receiving letters has vanished
Yes writing letters is such a great way to feel connected with people. I decided to create a ‘culture-ish’ evening once a month where I’ve invited local female friend whom I love to come to my house and watch something together on National theatre at home. Out of 6 invites two could make the first one and then I couldn’t get the app working on my tv so we huddled around my laptop watching cheese and crackers whilst watching fleabag! I’m trying to spend less and less time on all things online because the real experience is vanishing before me as I am more and more distracted by what happens online. It’s a small rebellion, but feels like a positive step in the right direction! True that there are so many wonderful things online, just want to bring some of that into my in real life life! How about setting up your own culture ish group?!
